Is it Right For You?

Are you experiencing a healthy, low-risk pregnancy and seeking a natural, supportive approach to birth?

Many of my clients choose home birth to stay involved, supported, and grounded in a safe, non-medical setting.

Common reasons they have shared include:
Safety, Comfort, Family, Empowerment, Support

Safety

I want to minimize my baby’s exposure to unnecessary chemicals and outside germs.

If both my baby and I are healthy, I prefer to wait for labor to begin naturally.

If labor slows or stalls, I’d like to try natural methods to encourage progress before turning to medical interventions.

I want a midwife who prioritizes protecting my body during birth and avoids unnecessary procedures like routine episiotomies.

My goal is to have a vaginal birth without pressure for surgery just because things are progressing slowly.

I believe medical interventions should only be used when absolutely necessary—not as part of a standard routine.

Comfort

I want the freedom to move around during labor, and for any monitoring to come to me, not restrict my mobility.

I’d like to eat and drink throughout labor, with access to my own food and space.

I want to keep the option open for a water birth if it feels right in the moment.

I would prefer not to travel once labor has started.

I want to feel free to express myself—whether that means being vocal, being still, needing solitude, or wanting support.

I don’t feel empowered in a hospital gown; I’d rather wear what feels comfortable and personal.

I want to labor in a space that reflects who I am—surrounded by my music, my pet, and the comfort of home.

After giving birth, I want to recover in my own bed, in familiar surroundings, with my baby close by.

Family

I want to be supported by loved ones close to me.

I want the option for my children to be present and active participants in my birth.

I want to feel supported by my family while I am in labor.

I want my other children to be present and involved for the birth of their sibling.

I want my baby to meet their grandparents soon after birth!

I want my pets to be around me for emotional support.

I want to invite those into my birth space that share my birth wishes.

Empowerment

I don’t want to be treated like a patient just because I’m pregnant—I want to be seen as capable and strong.

I want to be free to labor and give birth in the positions that feel most effective for me.

I want open dialogue with my midwife, including the freedom to ask questions or challenge suggestions.

I want clear explanations for any tests or procedures offered, and the right to decline anything that doesn’t align with my values or needs.

I trust my body and my intuition—and when I need a reminder, I want a supportive voice beside me.

Support

I value prenatal care that includes real conversation, trust-building, and meaningful time with my midwife.

I want full support with breastfeeding, even when it’s challenging.

I want care that takes into account my emotional and spiritual well-being, not just the medical side of things.

When I go into labor, I want to speak with someone who knows me personally and remembers our visits.

I want someone by my side who understands my birth preferences and treats them with respect.

I hope to have a midwife who is present and engaged throughout my labor—not just during delivery.

I want consistency in my care—no shift changes, no strangers stepping in.

I want to be surrounded by people who believe in the birth process, believe in me, and help me believe in myself.
